PASTOR'S MESSAGE

"Things Which Cannot Be Shaken."

In Hebrews 12 v. 26 we read, "Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also Heaven...that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore, we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved. let us have grace whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear; for our God is a consuming fire."

P.B. Shelley, the poet, wrote of the desert traveller, who saw two vast and trunkless legs of stone. Nearby was a shattered face, half buried in the sand. On the pedestal, where the great image had once stood, were these words: "My name is Ozymandias, King of kings. Look on my works, ye mighty, and despair."

The poet wrote further, "Nothing else remains. Round the decay of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare the lone and level sands stretch far away."

Years later, Lenin, the father of atheistic communism said, "With a handful of dedicated people who will give me their lives, I will control the world."

Proud and boastful men have had their little hour of self glory, but all too soon, their puny thrones crumble to dust.

This year the world has witnessed incredible scenes of destruction. Nations are in a state of flux. Economies are volatile. Between 2nd and 14th October 2001, the U.S. Geological Survey reported an amazing 300 earthquakes. While most of them were not of great magnitude, it still means that the earth is continually rumbling. In fact, from October 14th to 16th a total of 21 quakes ranging from 3.8 to 5.7 were recorded, 16 of these in vastly different areas of the world at a depth of 33 km.

God is sounding the alarm, but people are not listening. Time is running out, but the nations are running away from truth and holiness. Judgement must come to an ungodly world.

On the other hand, I believe that in a world of shifting values, there are standards that remain. The redeeming work of the blood of Christ is as steadfast and powerful as it has ever been. His blood will never lose its power. He can pardon, reconcile, ransom and sanctify all those who will trust in its limitless efficacy.

I believe in the progressive construction of His Church. Jesus said, "I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." The rise and fall of ideologies and rulers will continue, but the cause of the gospel cannot be overthrown. The banner of victory will always fly over the Kingdom of Christ. Precious souls are coming to the Saviour every day throughout the world.

I believe in the positive hope of Christ's coming again. He came before to Bethlehem as an infant child. He was the fulfillment of many prophetic announcements in Old Testament scripture. He will come again in fulfillment of many Old Testament prophecies. The alignment of nations, the conflicts of this present time, the resurgence of evil, the fulfillment of these prophetic scriptures, are all indicators that the return of Jesus Christ for His people is at hand.

With these unshakable principles in mind, we are to serve God. We are to live in reverence and Godly fear. We are to walk in holiness and hope. Let us remember that, "everyone that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself even as He is pure." 1 John 3 v. 3
