PASTOR'S MESSAGE

"The Inheritance Of Divine Fullness."

In our previous meditation I drew attention to the fruits of full salvation blessing. It is an experience of perfect love. It is also an experience of perfect peace. Furthermore, this work of grace in the heart of the child of God is an experience of the fullness of joy.

When our Lord spoke of the coming Comforter in His upper room discourse, he said to his disciples , "These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full" (John 15 v. 11).

It is a somewhat rare occurrence to meet a Christian today whose life overflows with Christian joy. There are so many grumbles; a spirit of despondency rests on some; a negative attitude controls others. But let us not dwell on things as they are now. Let us think of what things can be if we go through with God.

God says, "Be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your hearts to the Lord" (Ephesians 5 v. 18-19). It is the fullness which produces the fullness of joy.

Hudson Taylor described his entrance into the blessing of full salvation in these words, "Well do I remember as in unreserved consecration I put myself, my life, my friends, my all upon the altar ... I remember stretching myself upon the ground and lying silently before God with unspeakable awe and unspeakable joy". Samuel Logan Brengle once said, "The joy of the Lord flows and throbs through the heart of him who is sanctified, in an unbroken current". Indeed, there are many more enjoying the bliss of a pure heart; the experience of perfect joy.

Joys are flowing like a river,
Since the Comforter has come.
He abides with us forever,
Makes the trusting heart his home.

Have you entered into the harmony and soul happiness of the sanctified life?

It was this joy which enabled Paul and Silas to sing in prison. It was this inward gladness of soul which gave the disciples unbroken joy when they were mistreated before the councils of Judaism. "They counted it all joy to suffer for Christ's Name".

Our Lord Jesus said, "Ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full" (John 15 v. 24) . Could this be the answer to the general apathy, lukewarmness and heaviness which seems to have settled over the church? Remember the joy of the Lord is your strength. The secret of joyfulness is the indwelling and infilling of the Spirit.
