CIMC CHILDRENS WORK

At C.I.M.C. we place a lot of emphasis, both in time and resources, in the teaching and training of children. "Train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6. Leaders and finance always limit us, but we reach out three times each week into the community in which God has placed us.

Sunday School.
Children's Day, June '06 Sunday School is now well under way for the 06-07 season. Attendance has started well and once again, we are really pleased to see a good number of new children coming along. More and more we realise that children are not inclined to go out to church activities - even secular activities. Often there is no encouragement from home and so we have to have somewhere that children themselves WANT to come to.

We have three large classes each with 3 or 4 teachers. They work as a team to bring a varied program each week. The children enjoy songs, Bible verses relating to the lesson, quizzes and activities. We teach the child's catechism at each of the three age levels as well as Scripture verses and passages. Of course the main aim is to teach the truth of God's Word, but in a fresh and vibrant way.

Again we would ask you to pray not only that the children will be able to learn, but that God the Holy Spirit will reveal the truth of the Bible to their hearts. We have a great opportunity to instil the truth of the gospel in the minds of the next generation.

We have a monthly missionary focus with the children. Our Sunday School supports the work which Jonathan and Lupita Morton oversee in Mexico with OMS. The money which our children raise is dedicated to the Social Outreach among street kids. Our children are praying for this work and there is a special missionary offering once a month. On children's day this year we were able to send £1565 to Mexico for the social outreach work that OMS is involved in in Mexico City. A lot of this was in 5p's as 5p pays for one breakfast for each child.

Sunday School is each week from 10am to 11am.

One Way Club
One Way Club is a fantastic children's meeting. It is on each Friday at 6.30pm and usually about 50-60 kids come along. It is a great encouragement this year to see so many of our young people getting involved as helpers. Below you see a picture of our One Way Clubbers on Prize Night just before Easter '05. Those who scored enough points by good attendance, Bible verse memorisation and good behaviour were awarded a One Way Club cup, complete with Easter egg and sweets.

One Way Club
This club is geared specifically for 4 - 12 year olds. We sing some great songs to backing tracks as well as some of the goldie oldies. Allwe We have a regular visitor in the form of our OWC mascot, Allwe - a life size puppet sheep. The photo shows Allwe on his 3rd birthday! At times Max pops his head in too - he's a clever character with a Southern Irish accent who usually imparts some words of wisdom. It is a challenging and demading work but it has great reward. It is a joy to work amongst those who have told us they have trusted the Lord Jesus for salvation and we praise God for the teaching we can give them to encourage them in Christ. We see not only souls saved, but whole lives plucked from Satan's grip

We only wish you could be with us - this is one of our best meetings!

Youth Challenge

Wesley teaching J.Y.C. meets in the church each Sunday evening at 7.50pm. Youth Challenge is for those aged 11 and over. It has been great to see this group grow in numbers and in strength again this year. It is led by Wesley Stewart and Ronnie Black. On the first and third Sunday's of each month we study the course laid out by C.E.F., which gives us a five year cycle of study material. To the left you can see Wesley teaching at Youth Challenge.

Christmas 06 On the second and fourth Sundays we currently have C&C or Coffee & Chat. This is where each of the young people take a night each to organise a programme. We've been having so much fun with various quizzes and activities. It gives variation in the programme and means that we have opportunity to meet together every week rather than just twice a month. Youth Challenge is a great way to study the Bible and it's implications on our lives. After some refreshments we sing for a while from our own chorus book. Usually about 16 - 20 young people attend each Youth Challenge, but there's plenty of room for more.

Most of our JYC comes to Summer Camp, but other summer events included bowling at Waterworld and a night in Portrush (incl. Barrys). The photo below is of some of the young people enjoying breakfast after staying for the allniter at the church (September '06). The photo above right was at the Christmas party in Wes & Lorna's house.
